Adeptus Sororitas by psychoaccess Adeptus Sororitas by psychoaccess
Found another shot, taken by LJinto over on flicker: [link]
Thank you!

This is going to be my last shot from Megacon, but I hope to update and fix some problems I had in order to wear her again at Dragon*Con. There should be more details added, next time around.

And for the curious, my costume is of a Sister of Battle from Warhammer 40,000.

Thanks! Ah, lol, that was a several step process. I wrapped several players of plaster cloth around myself, let it dry, re-sealed it with glue. Then I covered the entire front with bondo, sanded it and painted. =]

Sadly, because I made the costume so last-minute, that was one of the several details I had to omit. Next time I wear her, I'll have more details, including some scars.

wow - you look stylish. And I like ur eyes, and the gun. How long did it take to make the gun?

Thank you! =]
The gun was rather simple, it's just a cardboard cover over a nerf body. It probably in all didn't take more than several hours, but it was spanned out over a few nights, in between making everything else.

nice! it's great to see more SoB costumes,
i know its worth working on, since i've made one before.

may i encourage two things?
some kind of iconography on the chest(perhaps smoothing out a little more of the.. bondo? you used)

and please share this on [link] it's a 40k costuming community, that myself and a few others help run. i know people would be THRILLED to see your work, and there are a good few of us attending D*con anyway, so i know there will be other 40k costumers who would love to hang out in person!

Oh, and great work!
i love the functional nerf pistol/bolter!

Oh wow, haha. Yeah, I'm not going to lie, I definitely stalked all of your work throughout making my Sister. While I wasn't working with materials nearly as good, it was still an inspiration.

Yeah, I plan on making modifications and additions before D*con, like the chest detail you suggest, and others. If you have any other suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them!
I wasn't sure about posting on the Obscurus Crusade, but I had lurked through many of the threads. I suppose I was concerned about my work not being quite up to par. But, if you suggest it, I think I might, now. It would be awesome to possibly meet up with others for the con!

Thanks again! =]

Honestly, we have all types of costumers at OC, its the interest in 40k costuming that binds us, not skills (which you are not lacking by the way)
so yeah, please do share your work there!

my further suggestions are perhaps glue some foam or felt on the underside of your shoulder pads, to stop them wearing into your chest armor.
and try out antiquing, also known as dry brushing.
as well as priming your stuff in black paint.
see how your pistol seems lighter in color, and the metal on the pistol is a flat silver? while the gold on your shoulderpads look more realistic?
it's the fact you had a black basecoat before you applied the gold that made it pop.
lookup a youtube tutorial on drybrushing, and paint your bolt pistol black, and then drybrush some silver or gunmetal color onto the areas that should be metal.

the red on the bolt pistol is kind of pinkish, i think a coat of black primer (i use black rustoleum BBQ primer) before you apply the red would make it a much richer, darker red, and help it look more in check with the colors of the rest of the costume.
anything further i could say would just be adding more details and armor, which is something i haven't gotten to on our suit either! so i have no room to talk! :D

Wow, sorry for the insanely late reply. Busybusy, haha.
Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, I definitely just need to put more time into the details. I was actually sewing and still working on making some of the props in the hotel the night before the con, lol. But yes, I plan on some improvements for D*C. =]

:iconpsychoaccess:

Material for the armor? The pauldrons, greaves, bracers, powerpack, and gun cover are all made from a cardboard base, which is coated is lacquer and drywall compound before painting. The chest plate is made from a plaster cloth mold coated in bondo, sanded and painted.
On what parts do you mean details and linings?
